Adam Bigelow embodies the spirit of Boston and is ready to embark on an exciting adventure—this time, it’s all about biking to every Dunkin’ location in the city! On Friday, June 6, coinciding with National Donut Day, he will set out on a delightful journey fueled by his love for biking and, of course, delicious donuts.
In a fun visual, we see Adam sporting a black helmet adorned with a whimsical propeller as he prepares to pedal his way to 96 Dunkin’ shops across Boston, covering an impressive 80 miles. This lively challenge is not just about indulging in Munchkins; it carries a heartfelt purpose.
Last year, Adam’s life took a turn when his girlfriend, Lily, received a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis during a camping trip in Grand Teton National Park. Feeling a strong desire to help, Adam took to social media to share his journey. “I felt pretty powerless, but I wanted to help,” he expressed, adding that he signed up for charity bike rides organized by the National MS Society that lead to the picturesque tip of Cape Cod.
To make the most of his time before the charity ride, Adam decided to create a joyful challenge for himself: biking to every Dunkin’ in Boston in a single day while enjoying 5,000 calories of Munchkins! In his planning video, he humorously noted the surprising scale of Boston, saying, “Boston is actually much bigger than I realized.”
After carefully mapping out the locations, he discovered there are 119 Dunkin’s in the greater Boston area, narrowing it down to 96 by excluding locations in sports venues, at the airport, or those facing health code violations. Adam will kick off his adventure in East Boston at the early hour of 4:30 a.m. to be among the first to savor those sweet treats.
With a planned route that takes him through the heart of the city and down to Dorchester, Adam aims to make it back to his final Dunkin’ by 7:30 p.m. He acknowledges that even brief stops will make for a tight schedule, but he’s excited to munch on those delightful donut holes throughout the day.
This spirited ride is all about raising awareness for Multiple Sclerosis, and Adam is making strides toward his fundraising goal of $3,000. He has already raised over $2,000 and is inviting supporters to join in the fun. “To tie it all together, anyone who donates will be entered to win a Dunkin’ Donuts gift card,” he shared, along with other exciting incentives like signed bike prints and social media shoutouts during his ride.
Adam’s roommate is also getting in on the action! For every $30 raised, he plans to cut an inch from his jeans while wearing them during the charity race, adding a humorous twist to their mission.
In Adam’s own words, “Someone very close to me was diagnosed with MS last year, and I wanted to turn something I love (riding bikes and doing ridiculous things) into something that can make a difference.” With every dollar raised, they are contributing to research, support, and ultimately, the quest for a cure.
This adventure is a beautiful blend of fun, purpose, and community spirit, showcasing Adam’s dedication to a cause that touches his heart while celebrating the joy of biking and Boston's beloved Dunkin’.
