Kitesurfer Soars 1,500 Feet, Sets World Record Above Iconic Landmark!

Jake Scrace, a passionate kite-surfer from the UK, has made waves in the world of adventure by setting an exhilarating new Guinness World Record. He soared to a breathtaking height of 1,587 feet (450 meters) over the stunning Isle of Wight, showcasing not only his skills but the beauty of this iconic landmark.

In a remarkable display of bravery and skill, Jake was towed aloft by a para-motor, and upon reaching his impressive altitude, he gracefully cut loose, gliding back to the waters beneath him. Captivating images capture him surfing high above the western tip of the island, where the famous Needles—three striking white chalk stacks—emerge dramatically from the sea.

At 40 years old, Jake has achieved a milestone that almost doubles the previous record of 908.7 feet. Reflecting on this incredible journey, he shared, “It was the biggest challenge I’ve ever taken on.” This adventure began with a humble stunt over Worthing Pier in his hometown and has now led him to this extraordinary achievement. “Up there, it was about trusting the team, the conditions, and just going for it,” he expressed.

The record-breaking attempt, which took place on July 23, was a true team effort, meticulously planned over several months. With a dedicated crew of 30—including safety divers and film specialists—Jake’s mission was well-supported from start to finish. The verification of his awe-inspiring feat involved advanced technology such as drones, body cameras, altimeters, and GPS-enabled smartphones, ensuring that every detail was captured.

The project was made possible thanks to the backing of Gleeds, a global property and construction consultancy that celebrated its 150th anniversary by supporting Jake’s remarkable goal of soaring to 1,500 feet. This achievement aligns beautifully with the 70th anniversary of Guinness World Records, which highlights extraordinary human accomplishments.

Pravin Patel, an official adjudicator from Guinness World Records, remarked, “We celebrate extraordinary feats that push the boundaries of human achievement.” He noted that Jake’s record is a shining example of innovation and daring. Richard Steer, chairman of Gleeds, added, “For 150 years, Gleeds has believed in pushing boundaries and turning bold ideas into reality.” He emphasized that this record encapsulates their spirit of professionalism and teamwork, reminding us that with vision and determination, the sky truly is no limit.

As Jake reflects on this triumphant moment, he’s already dreaming of future adventures and new heights to conquer. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance, teamwork, and a little bit of daring spirit.
