Teen's iPhone Calls 911, Saving Her Life After Crash!

A heartwarming story of resilience and technology unfolds with Laura Leskovac and her daughter, Lindsay, who faced a challenging moment that could have turned out far differently. After a serious car accident, Laura has been reflecting on how fortunate they are, especially considering the advanced features of Lindsay's iPhone 14.

In a moment of distress, Lindsay fell asleep at the wheel and collided with two poles and a tree. However, thanks to the crash detection feature she had activated, her phone sprang into action and promptly contacted emergency services.

Laura shared her experience with ABC 21 WFMJ, revealing, “The person from the fire and rescue told me that 911 said the phone initiated the call, so I looked further into that to find out…” She discovered that the iPhone has an automatic crash detection feature that can be a lifesaver when activated.

During the 22 minutes that her phone was connected to 911, Lindsay, despite suffering from broken femurs and fractures in her pelvis, hips, and cervical spine, was able to guide the paramedics to her location, where she was trapped under her vehicle.

“We’re so blessed that she’s alive; it’s a miracle,” Laura expressed with gratitude. “We’re also blessed that there’s no paralysis.” Although Lindsay has a long recovery ahead, her mother emphasizes the importance of having the technology that provided help when it was needed most.

For anyone with an iPhone 14 or a newer model, activating the crash detection feature is simple. Just go to the Emergency SOS section in the settings menu and turn on Crash Detection. You can also choose the emergency number it should dial, typically 911, or change it to a relevant contact, especially when traveling abroad.

This story not only highlights the power of modern technology but also serves as a reminder of the importance of safety features that can protect us in times of need. Share this uplifting tale with friends who own an iPhone 14 or newer, and encourage them to activate this life-saving feature.
