MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, along with his inventive friend Mark Rober, is embarking on an exciting new journey that promises to make a significant difference in the world. Following their remarkable efforts in previous campaigns—#TeamTrees, which gathered an impressive $20 million to plant 20 million trees, and #TeamSeas, which raised $30 million to clear 30 million pounds of plastic from our oceans—these two inspiring creators are now turning their attention to a vital cause: ensuring access to clean water for everyone.
In a spirited video announcing the campaign, MrBeast shared, “Over 3,000 of your favorite creators are all coming together with over 3 billion followers combined. This could be one of the largest philanthropy projects in history: #TeamWater.” Wearing cheerful blue "Team Water" shirts, MrBeast and Rober exemplify the spirit of collaboration and goodwill that this campaign embodies.
A plethora of beloved creators are joining this noble cause, including Hank Green, Kai Cenat, Michelle Khare, Zach King, and even culinary superstar Gordon Ramsay. Together, they will support WaterAid, an incredible nonprofit dedicated to providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to those in need across 22 countries.
The importance of clean water is paramount, as highlighted on the fundraiser’s website: “Water is critical to avoiding waterborne diseases, unlocking economic opportunity for everyone, and ensuring no one is left behind.” With their combined reach of nearly 500 million subscribers, they are poised to inspire change on an unprecedented scale during this campaign, which runs from August 1st to the end of the month.
The urgency of this issue is clear, as climate change continues to challenge access to clean water through droughts and floods. However, there is hope. The campaign promises smart solutions and real support to combat these challenges. As stated on the #TeamWater webpage, raising $40 million could provide clean water for decades to 2 million people, a goal that continues to grow as donations flow in.
The website proudly proclaims, “#TeamWater will be the biggest and most impactful campaign for clean water in history. With thousands of the world's top creators talking about water, we're changing the world, one drop at a time.”
After the success of #TeamSeas, which led to the removal of an astonishing 34 million pounds of trash from our waterways, MrBeast is thrilled to continue his commitment to clean water initiatives. Earlier this year, his organization, Beast Philanthropy, launched the “Water Is Life” campaign, successfully funding 109 freshwater wells in various African countries, benefiting over 250,000 individuals with life-changing access to clean water.
This ambitious #TeamWater project aims to expand that impact even further, collaborating with partners across five continents to bring sustainable water solutions where they are most needed. “Whether it's building networks of pipes, purifying salty water, or harvesting rainwater, #TeamWater will deliver proven, sustainable water solutions,” the fundraiser’s site notes, emphasizing that all projects will be community-led and built to endure.
Despite facing challenges along the way, MrBeast remains undeterred in his mission. In his launch video, he shares glimpses of ongoing projects in Malawi, Ecuador, and the United States, highlighting the tangible change already underway. “The projects you guys saw in this video are just a sample size of what we're gonna be doing with #TeamWater to give 2 million people clean water all around the world,” he expressed with enthusiasm.
The campaign kicks off with an incredible head start of $500,000, thanks to the generous support of Shopify, and YouTube’s commitment to match the first $2 million raised adds even more momentum.
For those inspired to contribute, YouTube will feature related content throughout the month, guiding viewers to teamwater.org, where they can donate, support the campaign, and even purchase merchandise to spread the word. MrBeast encourages everyone, “On top of donating, I need you guys to engage with all that content. Share it, spread the word, and encourage your favorite creators to support #TeamWater.”
Together, with joy and determination, we can all take part in this mission to make a lasting impact. Let’s join #TeamWater and help bring clean water to those who need it most!
