Teen repairs and donates 500+ computers to help those in need!

As a young middle school student, Sam Nadol discovered a remarkable hobby that would change his life and the lives of many others: breathing new life into discarded computers at his local recycling center. With a passion for technology, he dedicated himself to refurbishing these machines, successfully restoring eight computers by the time he turned 12. Each one found a new home shortly after being listed on Craigslist, showcasing the demand for his revitalized devices.

When Sam transitioned to high school, he was excited to learn about a $600 grant program aimed at supporting student projects. This opportunity inspired him to create Reboot PC, a school initiative that blossomed into a meaningful nonprofit organization.

His journey truly began when he connected with Roger Battacharia, a dedicated volunteer from Ossining Padres Hispanos, an organization focused on enhancing educational opportunities within the Hispanic community. Through this collaboration, Sam made his first official donation of twelve computers, marking a significant milestone in his mission.

Since then, Sam has worked tirelessly to ensure that refurbished computers reach those who need them the most, including schoolchildren in Haiti. As Battacharia expressed, “Sam brings computers where they’re desperately needed. That would have been another several thousand pounds of electronics in a landfill.” This sentiment highlights the positive impact of Sam's work, not only in providing technology but also in promoting environmental sustainability.

In August 2024, Sam began an exciting new chapter as a freshman at Purdue University, where he is pursuing a degree in computer engineering. That same fall, he celebrated a remarkable achievement: the donation of his 500th computer, this time to Ukrainian refugees residing in Brooklyn, New York.

Reflecting on his journey, Sam shared, “I get thank-you letters from recipients saying my computer helped them get a job or keep in touch with family. Being able to make an impact in people’s lives is the most rewarding part of what I do.” His heartfelt words capture the essence of his efforts and the joy he finds in uplifting others through technology.

Sam Nadol's story is a beautiful example of how one person's passion and determination can create ripples of goodness in the world, inspiring hope and connection wherever his efforts reach.
