Airline rewards 100,000 people with gift cards in return for random acts of kindness!

As the holiday season approaches, many of us find ourselves navigating the bustling airports, crowded security lines, and sometimes unpredictable weather. Yet amidst the hustle and bustle, there’s a delightful opportunity to spread a little joy, and Delta Airlines is leading the way!

This year, Delta is not only commemorating a remarkable 100 years of service but also celebrating the spirit of kindness through an inspiring initiative known as Centennial Cheer. In honor of this significant milestone, Delta will acknowledge 100,000 acts of kindness performed by both employees and customers.

From now until January 5, Delta team members will be on the lookout for passengers who embody the holiday spirit through thoughtful gestures. Whether it’s assisting a fellow traveler with their bags, offering your seat to someone in need of a quick exit, or simply sharing a snack with a new acquaintance, these small acts can create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

“While holiday travel brings its own share of pressure, Delta is shifting the spotlight to the simple acts of humanity that make our journeys memorable,” a press release from the airline expressed. The Holiday Medallion cards that employees will distribute are not based on loyalty status or flight history; they are meant for those who truly reflect the joy of the season.

Erik Snell, Delta’s chief customer experience officer, beautifully articulated, “Gifting Holiday Medallion cards to reward acts of kindness creates a positive loop of gratitude between our customers and employees.” He emphasized that whether it’s lending a hand with luggage, sharing a phone charger, or simply expressing gratitude to a reservations specialist, these gestures foster connections that enhance our travel experiences.

In addition to the warm recognition of kindness, those who receive Holiday Medallion cards will have the chance to redeem them for surprise gifts from the Delta Shop. These delightful prizes include items celebrating the airline's century-long journey and a limited number of special “Centennial Gift Sets,” which feature commemorative trading cards and a $500 Delta gift card.

Moreover, Delta’s Medallion Members can join in the celebration by giving holiday-edition certificates to employees who have gone above and beyond in their service. The airline plans to distribute around 40,000 certificates to honor those who exemplify the Delta spirit.

“Delta people take pride in creating moments of care, and this season they’re excited to recognize that same spirit in others,” Snell shared. As we reflect on the past 100 years of Delta, it is heartwarming to witness a commitment to kindness and connection that has always been at the core of the airline's values.

This holiday season, let’s embrace the goodness around us and celebrate the small acts of kindness that make our journeys and lives a little brighter!
